About Us

The Charity Law Association of Australia and New Zealand (CLAANZ) was originally established as the Australian Charity Law Association in 2009 in response to the emerging need for accountable, charity-related legal services in Australia. The Association changed its name on 27 August 2015 to better reflect the engagement, since our establishment, of Australian and New Zealand colleagues in addressing legal issues in the charity and NFP sector in both countries. The Association is registered as a charity with the Australian Charity and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).

The current Board members of CLAANZ are: Professor Matthew Harding (Deputy Dean, Melbourne University Law School) (Chair); Sari Baird (General Counsel, Oxfam); Sue Barker (Director, Sue Barker Charities Law, New Zealand); Jennifer Batrouney QC (List A Barristers, Melbourne); Seak-King Huang (Principal, Prolegis Lawyers, Melbourne); Ian Murray (Senior Lecturer, University of Western Australia); Anne Robinson AM (Principal, Prolegis Lawyers, Sydney);
